In 2012, Erk & Kap’s second studio album with Academics is being released. Through the group’s own label, Bastards! continues where Dirty North departed.
Trainspotters has accomplished a lot throughout the years, but also barely started. Just like the collective, record label and distributor Random Bastards, the group was formed naturally through skateboarding, living in northern Sweden and the graffiti culture. After more than ten independent releases on limited cassettes and 12” singles, Japan vinyl and DIY-style burned mixtapes, the duo’s debut LP landed in 2010.
Dirty North was nominated for “Hiphop/soul of the year” by P3 Guld (Sweden’s biggest and most recognized music award, broadcasted live on national radio and TV), the single Fan First for “Music video of the year” by Whoa (Sweden’s biggest hip hop site) and Random Bastards for “Entrepreneurs of the year” at Transition Winter Awards. Longer interviews with the legendary Mats Nileskär (P3 Soul) as well as Kingsize Magazine (Scandinavia’s largest hip hop print) were made as well. Together with the crew’s skate and snowboard films as well as episodes on the own channel RBTV, the total amount of downloads and views now exceed a million.
